Khaberni - The general commander of the Syrian Democratic Forces, Mazloum Abdi, confirmed his forces' commitment to maintaining the ceasefire agreement and working towards achieving "genuine integration" within the ongoing efforts to resolve the situation in Syria.
Abdi explained in a post on the "X" platform that he had a "constructive and fruitful" meeting with the U.S. Ambassador Tom Barrack and Admiral Brad Cooper, commander of the U.S. Central Command, in the Kurdistan region of Iraq.
The general commander of the "SDF" noted that the support of the United States and the policy of President Donald Trump regarding the ceasefire process, along with Ambassador Barrack's efforts to restart the dialogue between the Syrian Democratic Forces and the Syrian government, "represents a serious step and is welcomed".
He emphasized: "We will work with all our capacities and seriously to achieve genuine integration and preserve the current ceasefire".
In a related context, Abdi announced that he received a phone call from the French President Emmanuel Macron, during which the latter expressed his support for the efforts made by the "SDF" and the relevant parties aiming to solidify the ceasefire and prepare the suitable conditions for resuming negotiations towards a permanent solution that serves the stability of the region.
Abdi added that his discussion with Macron also addressed "the implementation of previous agreements between us and the Syrian government, and the necessity of protecting the rights of all components in the country".
In addition, Abdi discussed with the president of the Kurdistan Region of Iraq, Nechirvan Barzani, the latest developments in Syria.
A statement from the presidency of the region mentioned that both sides emphasized the importance of sustaining the ceasefire and resuming dialogues between the "SDF" and Damascus, to ensure the rights of Kurds and all components within a unified Syria.
Abdi expressed his appreciation for Barzani's role and the efforts of the Kurdistan Region in supporting stability and encouraging peaceful solutions, affirming the commitment of the "SDF" to work towards a comprehensive political settlement.
