Strict Penalties on the Algeria Team Financial Fines and Player Suspensions

Khaberni -  The Disciplinary Committee of the African Football Confederation has issued strict penalties against the Algerian Football Federation concerning incidents that occurred during the Algeria versus Nigeria match in the quarterfinals of the 2025 African Cup of Nations.

The penalties include a two-match suspension for goalkeeper Luca Zidane and a four-match suspension for defender Rafik Belghali (including two matches suspended) along with total financial fines amounting to $100,000. 

The effect of this penalty will apply during the qualifying matches for the 2027 African Cup of Nations.

Additionally, there is a financial penalty imposed on the Algerian Football Federation amounting to $5,000 due to inappropriate conduct by the national team, following five players receiving yellow cards during the match, in violation of Article 130 (paragraph a) of the Confederation of African Football penalty code, as well as a financial penalty of $25,000 due to inappropriate actions by some players at the end of the match, which damaged the image of the encounter, in violation of Articles 82 and 83 of the penalty code.

Furthermore, there is a financial penalty of $5,000 due to the use of fireworks by supporters of the Algerian team inside the stands.
