Khaberni - In a first of its kind in modern American history, Vice President J.D. Vance and his wife Usha announced that they are expecting their fourth child during this summer, making Usha the first Second Lady in the United States to be pregnant and give birth while in office.
The announcement came in a joint statement released by the couple on social media, in which they clarified that the expected child is a boy, due to be born in late July, and confirmed that Usha's health and the baby are stable and good.
The statement added "We are extremely happy to share this news, and look forward to welcoming our fourth child soon,” expressing their gratitude to the military doctors who oversee the family's health, in addition to the accompanying staff that enables them to balance family life and official duties.
The couple has three children, Ewan (8 years), Vivek (5 years), and Mirabel (2 years), who often appear with their parents at official events and travels within and outside the United States.
Usha Vance, 40, has stopped working as a prominent lawyer after her husband took office as Vice President alongside President Donald Trump, and had garnered significant attention during the 2024 presidential campaign after her husband was announced as a candidate for Vice President.
Usha has a notable professional record in the legal field, having worked on civil and appellate cases, and previously held a position as a legal assistant in the U.S. Supreme Court, making her one of the most prominent legal figures before entering politics.
This event is seen as an exceptional humane moment within the American administration, blending high political responsibilities and family transformations, with the upcoming arrival of a new child in the Vice President's house.
