Henry criticizes Senegal We dont want to watch a team like you

Khaberni - Former French football star Thierry Henry expressed his views concerning the events of the final match of the African Nations Cup (Morocco 2025), where the Senegalese team emerged victorious over the host country, after thrilling incidents, including a penalty in stoppage time of the second half, followed by the withdrawal and return of the Senegalese players, and finally their win against Morocco by a score of 1-0.

Henry discussed the final match and his opinions on what happened with the Senegalese team in statements reported by "Foot Mercato".

Henry said, "I have always enjoyed watching this tournament, because I see great quality, very good teams, and a distinctive championship; this is my viewpoint."

He added, "I just wanted to offer something, because it is important; so I watched the tournament, including the final. Looking at the final, the tournament was superb, Morocco did a great job with hosting and the stadiums and hotels were fantastic."

He continued, "Considering what happened, the Senegalese team's reaction, wanting to leave the pitch, was wrong; this is not the image we want to see, not just for African football, but for football in general; we do not want to do that or see it."

About the goal scored by Senegal's Pape Gueye, Henry said, "What a finish, and it's also great to see Sadio Mane win and end his career in African tournaments with a title after announcing his retirement from these competitions. But I want to return to a very important point, for me, we don't want to see these kinds of things; we do not want to watch a team leave the pitch. Do I understand the frustration? Yes, but not in this manner, and for me, this is not the way we want to showcase the tournament."
