Khaberni - An Arab diplomatic source said the ousted Syrian President Bashar Hafez al-Assad refused to receive a phone call from one of his cousins to consult about the burial of Rifaat al-Assad, Hafez's brother.
Rifaat died in the Emirate of Dubai, where he had been recently hosted by the UAE, at the age of 88, spending most of it committing crimes against Syrian civilians Khaberni and meddling with the security of neighboring countries like Jordan, Lebanon, and Iraq.
Relations between the deceased, Hafez and Rifaat, deteriorated, causing the latter to leave for France amid accusations of stealing Syrian treasury funds and profiting from illegal trade.
According to the diplomatic source, Bashar, who resides in Moscow, apologized for not being able to take a phone call from one of his cousins to consult about the burial site of Rifaat or the possibility of holding a condolence ceremony for him in Qardaha, northern Syria.
