Karak Public Works A Methodical Plan to Address Roads Damaged by Weather Depressions

Khaberni - Farmers and livestock breeders in Karak governorate called on the concerned authorities to reopen and maintain the secondary agricultural roads that were damaged due to recent weather depressions, emphasizing that mudslides and accumulated stones have made them unfit for vehicle traffic, which hindered their access to their farms and herds.
Farmer Khaled Al-Habashneh, who owns more than 400 sheep in Hadeib area, north of Karak, said that the road leading to his sheep site cracked due to the rains, forcing him to transport feed and water using animals, demanding a quick reopening of the road.
Field crops farmer Hisham Al-Ja'afareh, who cultivates about 20 dunums in Wadi Ibn Hammad, mentioned that the 1.5-kilometer long road to his farm has filled with stones, cracks, and landslides, which forced him to walk despite the dangerous mountainous location.
Hajj Abu Ayman Al-Assasfeh, who cultivates more than 30 dunums in Idfidai Brakin area, explained that the road leading to his land and his 400 sheep has become nearly closed, complicating the movement of farm tractors and the transport of feed.
From Bateer area, farmer Ghazi Al-Assasfeh confirmed that the agricultural roads have become nearly impassable due to debris and stones, while sheep breeder Abu Ahmad Al-Ma'ayteh from Al-Lajjun area called for the rehabilitation of the roads and covering them with base course to ensure their continuous use during the winter season.
Sheep breeder Abu Ahmad Al-Ma'ayteh, who stays with his sheep during winter in Al-Lajjun area, east of Karak, pointed to his continuous struggle with the difficulty of moving on the rugged dirt road leading to his site, especially during the winter, calling on the authorities to reopen it and cover it with base course material to ensure easy access to the sheep sites.
In his role, the Director of Public Works in Karak, Engineer Ra'ad Al-Sahimat, affirmed that the directorate is proceeding according to a methodical plan and program to reach all roads affected by the increased demand from citizens to reopen roads damaged by previous weather depressions.
Al-Sahimat called on farmers and citizens to submit official requests at the directorate to enable reaching everyone according to a scheduled and timely program for each closure case.
