Khaberni - Dr. Vyacheslav Korenkov, an eye medicine and surgery specialist, explained that using eye moisturizing drops without a prescription could lead to dry eye syndrome.
According to him, it is necessary to consult an ophthalmologist before using any such drops.
He says, "The visual system is a very sensitive and complex system because it consists of blood vessels and nervous tissues. Therefore, even the apparently simple use of moisturizing drops can disrupt its functions, because the introduction of extra fluid into the eye makes it feel like there is an excess of tears, thus slowing down its natural production process."
The doctor points out that even if the eye's secretory system, responsible for producing tears, is functioning properly, the drops could inhibit the tear system, which may cause dry eye syndrome over time.
