The Parliamentary Finance Committee demands Agriculture to implement the recommendations of the Audit Bureau

Khaberni - The Parliamentary Finance Committee, chaired by MP Nimr Al-Sulihat, discussed during a meeting held today, Wednesday, the Audit Bureau report concerning the Ministry of Agriculture for the year 2024, in the presence of the Minister of Agriculture, Saieb Khreisat.

Al-Sulihat stated that the committee reviewed the main violations and observations in the report, especially those related to encroachment on forest lands and the use of government vehicles.

Al-Sulihat emphasized the necessity for the Ministry of Agriculture to commit to implementing the recommendations of the Audit Bureau and to take the necessary legal and administrative measures to correct the situation and recover public funds in case of any transgressions, which contributes to protecting public money and improving spending efficiency, especially in light of the challenges faced by the agriculture sector.

The committee called for forming a joint committee between the Audit Bureau and the Ministry of Agriculture to take necessary actions to correct the situation, and to provide the Finance Committee with the outcomes of its work within a maximum period of 14 days, to enable it to make its final decision.

In turn, committee members stressed the importance of comprehensively addressing all violations and taking strict measures against anyone who encroaches on forest areas in various provinces of the kingdom.

On his part, the Minister of Agriculture and ministry representatives provided clarifications about the observations in the report, outlining the corrective measures taken, and the future plans to address pending issues, confirming their agreement with the Finance Committee's decision to form a joint committee with the Audit Bureau to rectify issues and present the results to the committee for appropriate decision making.
