New Details in Midos Case After the Sentencing and Fine

Khaberni -  The Cairo Economic Court has decided to detain the former player Ahmed Hossam "Mido", until its decision is issued on the appeal submitted by him regarding his imprisonment sentence, in the case where he is accused of insulting and slandering international referee Mahmoud El-Banna.

The Al-Youm Al-Sabea newspaper reported that Mido arrived earlier at the court to attend the first hearing of the appeal, amidst significant media and public attention.

The details of the case date back to a complaint filed by international referee Mahmoud El-Banna, where he accused Mido of exceeding limits against him through social media, following a match he officiated between Al Ahly and Pyramids teams, considering that what was issued against him falls under explicit insult and defamation.

It is noted that the Cairo Economic Court had earlier issued a verdict sentencing Ahmed Hossam Mido to one month of imprisonment, and fining him an amount of 20,000 Egyptian pounds, in addition to obliging him to pay a civil compensation of 10,000 Egyptian pounds in favor of El-Banna, before he appealed against the verdict issued against him.
