Foods to Include in a Winter Diet

Khaberni - Dr. Yelena Solomatina, a nutrition expert, indicates that in winter, it is necessary to incorporate warm soups and fatty fish into the diet to support the immune system and energy levels.
According to her, the diet during cold weather should rely on complex carbohydrates, such as those found in whole grains and bread.

She says: "Foods rich in low-fat protein are also important as they provide the body with the essential elements needed for the synthesis of immune system proteins. Therefore, fish dishes, along with chicken, turkey, and rabbit, should be included in the diet. For easier protein digestion, it's advisable to cook these foods by simmering, boiling, or grilling."

The expert points out that cheese, eggs, peas, chickpeas, beans, and lentils are also rich in protein. It is also essential to get enough vitamin A, which strengthens the mucous membranes and prevents viruses from entering the body. This vitamin, for example, is found in butter. The carotenoids, which in turn convert to vitamin A, are found in dried apricots, carrots, pumpkins, onions, kale, and beets.
