Khaberni - The psychiatric committees of the Regional Council for Mental Health in Cairo have resolved the ongoing debate regarding the mental state of the accused in the case of a child's murder in Ismailia, after their final report confirmed the accused's complete mental capacity and his full awareness of his actions.

The report of the Regional Council for Mental Health in Cairo, based on clinical examinations and a review of the incident details, revealed that the accused, “Yusuf. A”, aged 14, does not suffer from any psychological or mental disorders that affect his perception or choice, either at the current time or during the commission of the crime.

The comprehensive medical and psychological examination proved the health of the accused's consciousness and his good understanding and full ability to differentiate between right and wrong, with a complete grasp of the nature of his actions and their consequences.

The accused underwent several sessions of psychological evaluation, including intelligence testing and assessments of emotional stability and cognitive abilities, which did not record any signs of psychosis, delusions, compulsive impulsiveness, or disorder that causes him to lose control over his actions, according to the medical report.

The report also emphasized the absence of any impediment from the criminal liability exclusions, confirming the accused's full legal competency to be held responsible for the crime he committed against his peer.

In related context, the Ismailia Juvenile Criminal Court chaired by Counselor Khaled Al-Deeb postponed the hearing of the case to January 27th of this month to review the medical report attached to the case files.

On his part, Mohammad El-Gibalawy, the lawyer for the victim's family, stated in circulating statements that the psychiatric reports confirmed the accused's complete knowledge of what he was doing and his ability to determine timings, accusing the defense of stalling to prolong the trial.

It is noteworthy that the accused faces 5 main charges including the premeditated murder of the child "Mohamed", after he planned to get rid of him, kidnapping him after deceiving him to retrieve his mobile phone, stealing the phone, possessing two illegal white weapons, and possessing tools used in assaulting individuals.
