Khaberni - The United States announced on Tuesday that its forces had detained an oil tanker in the Caribbean, which is one of 7 ships that have been detained since President Donald Trump imposed a blockade to prevent sanctioned ships from heading to or leaving Venezuela.
A post by the U.S. Southern Command on the X platform stated that the vessel "Sagitta" was "defying the blockade imposed by President Trump on sanctioned ships" and had been detained "without any incidents".
The Southern Command accompanied its post, which stated "Only oil that will leave Venezuela is that which is properly and legally coordinated", with a video clip of the ship from the air.
Among the seven detained ships since the U.S. President imposed the blockade in December, a tanker linked to Russia was detained by the United States in the North Atlantic earlier this month after a chase as it was heading to Venezuela without any cargo.
Washington deploys a massive naval force in the Caribbean, launching strikes on boats it claims are used in drug smuggling, and detaining oil tankers.
On January 3, U.S. special forces conducted a swift operation in Caracas, resulting in the arrest of President Nicolas Maduro.
Trump emphasizes that Venezuelan oil is now under Washington's control, announcing that he has already confiscated quantities and sold them.
The Venezuelan authorities deny this, stating that the country's oil is still under their control and that the state-owned Venezuelan oil company is negotiating with the United States regarding oil sales.
