Khaberni - The Syrian presidency announced reaching an understanding between the Syrian government and the Syrian Democratic Forces, SDF, on several issues concerning the future of Al-Hasakah Governorate.
The Syrian presidency announced in a statement relayed by the Syrian news agency, on Tuesday, an agreement to grant SDF 4 days to consult on developing a detailed plan for the practical integration of the regions.
The presidency stated: "If an agreement is made, the Syrian forces will not enter the city centers of Al-Hasakah and Qamishli but will remain on their outskirts. A later discussion will address the timeline and details of the peaceful integration of Al-Hasakah Governorate, including the city of Qamishli."
It emphasized the assurance that Syrian military forces will not enter Kurdish villages, and that no armed forces will be present in those villages except local security forces from the area, according to the agreement.
The Syrian presidency, in its statement, mentioned that SDF leader Mazloum Abdi will propose a candidate from the SDF for the position of Deputy Minister of Defense, as well as suggest a candidate for the governor of Al-Hasakah, names for representation in the People's Council, and a list of other individuals for employment within the Syrian state institutions.
The presidency confirmed that both parties agreed on integrating all military and security forces of SDF into the Ministries of Defense and Interior, with ongoing discussions about the detailed mechanism of integration. Civil institutions will also be integrated within the structure of the Syrian government. The presidency announced the implementation of Decree No. 13 concerning linguistic and cultural rights and citizenship rights of Kurds, reflecting a shared commitment to building a united and strong Syria based on national partnership and guaranteeing rights for all its components. It indicated that the implementation of this understanding would begin from 8 PM today, local time.
