Former Israeli Prime Minister Insults Erdogan and Qatar

Khaberni - Criticism in Israel is escalating following the announcement by US President Donald Trump about the launch of the "Peace Council" plan for managing the Gaza Strip, the latest of which is a post by former Prime Minister Naftali Bennett, where he attacked Turkey and Qatar.

On his account on the platform "X", Naftali Bennett wrote: "Erdogan (Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan) and Qatar, these scoundrels, the biggest haters of Israel and the enthusiastic supporters of Hamas, are being brought in through the main door to manage Gaza. What a terrible political failure for the Netanyahu-Ben Gvir-Smotrich government (Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, National Security Minister Itamar Ben Gvir, and Finance Minister Bezalel Smotrich)… we will soon fix this as well," he described.

In recent days, Trump has issued a series of formal invitations to world leaders to join as founding members of the "Peace Council" he established to manage the Gaza Strip.

The Council, which is chaired by Trump himself, aims to be a supreme supervisory body providing international legitimacy and economic support to implement the second phase of the American peace plan, which includes the disarmament of the sector and its reconstruction.

According to an official statement from the Turkish Presidential Office, President Recep Tayyip Erdogan received a message inviting him to serve as a founding member of the Council. The head of the communications department in the Turkish presidency, Burhanettin Duran, confirmed that the invitation was received on January 16, noting that Turkey considers itself a pivotal party in the reconstruction efforts and guaranteeing stability in the region.

The invitation was not limited to Turkey alone but also included Qatar, which is expected to play a central role in managing the sector in "the day after" the war. The Kremlin also confirmed that Russian President Vladimir Putin received an official invitation; where the Kremlin spokesperson stated in an official statement that Moscow is considering the proposal and hopes to make contacts with the administration in Washington in this regard. An invitation was also sent to the European Union, but there is no rush to join there.

This announcement was met with a fierce Israeli reaction, with Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu attacking the decision by the American president related to the formation of "the Gaza Executive Committee."

In his statement, he said, "The announcement about forming the Gaza Executive Committee, part of the Peace Conference, was not coordinated with Israel and contradicts its policy," adding that the Prime Minister directed Foreign Minister Gideon Sa'ar to urgently contact his American counterpart Marco Rubio to discuss the matter.

Following that, Minister Ben Gvir urged the issuance of orders for the Israeli army to return to war in Gaza "with tremendous force," aiming to achieve what he described as "the main goal of the war: the elimination of Hamas," considering that "the Gaza Strip does not need any management committee to supervise its reconstruction."

Minister Smotrich also called for the cancellation of Trump's peace plan for Gaza, describing it as "bad for the State of Israel."
