Khaberni - Health Minister Ibrahim Al-Badour confirmed that drug pricing falls under the jurisdiction of the General Corporation for Food and Drug, not the Ministry of Health, pointing out that work is currently underway on procedures to reprice drugs within a new equation that ensures the rights of the manufacturer, importer, and patient alike.
Al-Badour said on "The Kingdom" on Tuesday evening that lowering drug prices is a priority that serves the interest of patients, noting that the prices of many drug categories have indeed been recently reduced by the General Corporation for Food and Drug.
The Minister of Health stressed the importance of achieving a balance between production and import costs, and the patients' ability to afford the medication, ensuring the sustainability of drug availability in the local market without harming any party involved in the pharmaceutical process.
