Khaberni - Minister of Health Ibrahim Al-Badour said on Tuesday that the health center serves as the patient's gateway to receiving treatment, where everything needed from a specialist doctor, medications, and services will be provided before resorting to hospitals.
Al-Badour added through "Al-Mamlaka" that the working hours of comprehensive health centers near major hospitals will be extended to help reduce the number of emergency hospital visits, noting that the pressure on emergencies starts after the health centers close from 6 PM until 10 PM.
He explained that about 50 to 65% of the emergency hospital visitors could be treated in the comprehensive health centers because their medical condition is mild, such as a cold, tonsillitis, or bone pains, noting that Al-Bashir Hospital emergency department receives about 3000 cases daily.
Al-Badour confirmed that comprehensive health centers work to reduce the pressure on hospital emergencies, lessen the congestion, and accelerate the provision of services to patients.
