Khaberni - Minister of Health Ibrahim Al-Badour stated on Tuesday that Princess Basma Hospital in Irbid aims to provide advanced therapeutic and diagnostic services according to the highest accredited standards.
Al-Badour added in his talk for the program "Voice of the Kingdom" that the hospital consists of 9 floors and includes the latest medical equipment, and contains 504 beds that can be increased, noting that the number of beds in the new hospital is double that of the old hospital.
He indicated that the total cost of constructing and equipping Princess Basma Hospital approached 100 million dinars, with joint funding from the government and the Saudi Fund for Development, mentioning that the old buildings in the old hospital will be assessed and transformed into a comprehensive health center, to serve as the main gateway for the new hospital and alleviate pressure on it.
He explained that about 50 - 65% of emergency hospital visitors could be treated in comprehensive health centers, as their medical condition is minor such as a cold, tonsillitis, or bone pain, noting that Al-Bashir hospitals' emergency departments receive about 3000 cases daily.
Al-Badour confirmed that the comprehensive health centers work to reduce the pressure on hospital emergencies, decrease the congestion, and accelerate the provisioning of services to patients.
