Up to 32 users WhatsApp Web to support group calls soon

Khaberni - WhatsApp is currently testing new features that allow users to make voice and video calls directly within group chats via the web version.

WABetaInfo, a website that tracks WhatsApp updates, mentioned that the company is working on improving call functionality to include all group members, regardless of the device used.

The site added that WhatsApp first tested this feature in April, but it was not officially launched at that time, as support for group calls on the web version was still in its early stages. It also pointed out that new tests are currently being conducted on the feature.

The site explained that the anticipated update may support conducting group calls via WhatsApp Web with several users, possibly up to 32 users, indicating that the company might begin by allowing fewer participants initially, such as 8 or 16 users, before gradually increasing the limit to 32, to ensure stable connections and high-quality calls without interruptions.

In this context, the site pointed out that WhatsApp plans to launch a new feature that allows users to create a direct call link from a group chat on WhatsApp Web, where this link can be shared with others to join the call immediately, with the option to choose between a voice or a video call.

The site also highlighted that among other features under development is the capability to schedule calls on WhatsApp Web, where scheduled calls will include a title and description, as well as estimated start and end times, giving participants a clear understanding of the context and advance notice.

It clarified that users will need to specify whether the scheduled call is audio or video, noting that these calls will not start automatically but will create a visible event for all participants.
