Khaberni - The competent investigative authorities in the city of 6th of October issued a decision to refer the suspect in the murder of artist Said Mukhtar to criminal trial, following a fight that occurred between the two parties in the vicinity of Wadi Degla club in the October Gardens area.
In statements during a live broadcast on Facebook, the late artist's lawyer stated that her client was subjected to what she described as "deliberate betrayal" while he was on his way to see his son, explaining that the meeting time was initially set inside a mall before his ex-wife unexpectedly changed it and showed up with her common-law husband, the suspect in the case.
The lawyer emphasized that what happened was not a coincidence, considering that both the change of place and time were premeditated. She also revealed new legal details related to the artist’s social situation, clarifying that the commonly discussed divorce is not accurate, as the wife is still legally his, with the khul' lawsuit she filed last September not yet concluded.
She added that the wife's common-law marriage to the suspect constitutes an illegal situation given the ongoing official marital relationship. She pointed out that the artist was keen on his son, having rented an apartment for his wife at the beginning of last November, and transferred a sum of money to her just hours before the incident to meet their son’s needs.
She explained that the wife had been preventing the artist from seeing his child recently, and her arrival at the club with her common-law husband at the visitation time was the direct cause of the altercation that ended with the artist being stabbed to death in front of Wadi Degla club, as security forces continue to investigate to uncover all the details of the incident.
