Egypt Ahmed Douma Arrested After Sisis Pardon Decision

Khaberni  - Attorney Khaled Ali, via his personal account on "Facebook", said that the security forces arrested political activist Ahmed Douma from his home in the early hours of the morning.

Egyptian President Abdel Fattah el-Sisi issued a presidential pardon in August 2023 for political activist Ahmed Douma, who had been imprisoned since 2013 and was sentenced to 15 years in prison in the "Cabinet Clashes" case. This led to his release after serving about half of his sentence, in response to demands for his release due to deteriorating health and coinciding with the national dialogue.

Ahmed Douma (born 1988) is one of the most prominent figures of the January revolution, having spent more than ten years in prison on political charges, including what is known as the "Cabinet Clashes", before being released under a presidential pardon in August 2023. Since his release, he has been subject to repeated summons from the Supreme State Security Prosecution, and he is under a travel ban, in addition to pursuits and cases related to his writings and poetry, including his poetry collection "Curly".
