Ministry of Development Distribution of safe heaters to eligible families begins Sunday

Khaberni - Social Development Minister Wafaa Bani Mustafa stated that the ministry will start from Sunday the replacement of unsafe heaters with safe ones for eligible families.

Wafaa Bani Mustafa confirmed that safe heating is part of the ministry's responsibilities, emphasizing the ministry’s efforts to support and provide safe heating means for eligible families, which is continuously benefiting thousands of families.

She added that the decision to replace unsafe heaters, issued by the direction of the Prime Minister, aims to maintain the safety of the citizens, noting that the decision of the Council of Ministers supported the replacement of 15,000 unsafe heaters for families that do not possess safe heating means.

She mentioned that the ministry, in partnership with Tkiyet Um Ali and with support from the Phosphate Company, began replacing heaters from the date of January 8, and that the number of heaters that have been replaced so far is 1,285.

Bani Mustafa added that the ministry has instructed its social development directorates to begin receiving heater replacement applications, noting that the ministry has prepared lists and will start distributing the heaters to them next Sunday. The replacement requires handing over unsafe heaters for the purpose of destruction.

The Council of Ministers decided in its session on Monday, chaired by Prime Minister Jaafar Hassan, to instruct the Ministry of Social Development to replace 15,000 unsafe heaters with safe ones for eligible families and to allocate the necessary funds for this, through the social development centers in the provinces and Tkiyet Um Ali, as part of social protection, and within the Safe Winter campaign that started at the beginning of the winter season.

The decision continues the efforts of the Ministry of Social Development and the concerned ministries, which are exerted each winter through various initiatives and programs to support eligible families.

The council also discussed the progress of procedures for disbursing financial aid to those affected by weather conditions from eligible families, according to criteria and foundations set by the ministries of Social Development / National Aid Fund, the Ministry of Awqaf and Islamic Affairs, and Agriculture.

The council directed the completion of allocating financial amounts to the affected and disbursing them after the concerned ministries completed their registration following the application submission. The disbursement of the amounts will be completed sequentially, including compensations for lands affected by landslides that occurred in the Al-Marj area in Karak governorate, from the emergency expenditures item in the current year's general budget.

The concerned ministries have disbursed compensations to more than 120 families until today, Monday, in the affected areas, and will continue to do so for more eligible families in the coming days until all allocated amounts are fully disbursed to all eligible families.

Additionally, a study is underway to compensate another group of families whose homes were damaged by severe weather and heavy rains, where the value of the damages is being assessed to disburse compensations to the owners according to the standards and instructions.
