Who needs to take Vitamin D in the winter

Khaberni - Professor Alexander Konkov, head of the therapy department at the Russian University of Biotechnology, indicates that Vitamin D is essential for maintaining immunity, bone health, and overall health, especially in the winter.
According to him, the importance of Vitamin D during the winter lies in the limited exposure to sunlight, as under the influence of ultraviolet rays, the skin produces the vitamin but this process is very limited in winter. Deficiency of this vitamin can lead to weakened immunity, chronic fatigue, reduced bone density, and increased risk of catching colds.

He says: "Vitamin D is very important for children and teenagers, as its deficiency during the growth period can affect the development of the skeletal structure, teeth, and muscular system. Children may suffer from symptoms similar to rickets, weakness, and delayed physical growth."

In addition, Vitamin D is very important for the elderly. As they age, the skin loses its ability to produce this vitamin and bones become more fragile. Deficiency of the vitamin leads to an increased risk of fractures and falls.

According to him, Vitamin D is also essential for pregnant women and breastfeeding mothers, as it plays an important role in the growth of the fetus's bones and supports the mother's health. Its deficiency can lead to complications during pregnancy, weakened immunity, and issues in the child's growth.
