In September 2025, the son of the Syrian producer Mohammad Qaband announced the kidnapping of his father, explaining in a post on his Facebook account that his father was kidnapped outside the headquarters of "Qaband" in Qudsiya suburb, BeqaaRoad, near the Sahara complex, by unknown individuals impersonating the general security using two cars, before being taken to an unknown destination.
Khaberni - The Syrian Interior Ministry announced on Monday evening the discovery of the Chairman of the Board of Directors of Qaband for Production and Distribution, Mohammad Qaband, who was among the missing, along with another kidnapped person named Hamza Lahham.
The Ministry of Interior stated: "Since the moment the disappearance of the citizen Mohammad Qaband in Rural Damascus was reported, the internal security units immediately began search and investigation operations, and took all necessary legal procedures to uncover the facts of the case and pursue the involved parties and bring them to justice," indicating that "during the course of the investigation, some instigators tried to divert the case's direction and accuse the Syrian state of disappearing him which led to weakening of cooperation and coordination with the specialist team, which made the mission difficult and led to delay in the progress of the search and investigation."
The statement continued: "Thanks to intense efforts and diligent follow-up, the internal security units, (on Monday), were able to find the citizen Mohammad Qaband accompanied by another kidnapped person named Hamza Lahham who had been kidnapped about a month ago and his case was also followed by the criminal investigation, where they were secured and protected accordingly, while the competent authorities proceeded to complete investigations and pursue the rest of the cell members behind this heinous crime."
The Interior confirmed "its constant diligence in protecting the citizens and ensuring their safety and security," stressing that it "will not hesitate to take all deterrent measures against anyone who dares to compromise the security and stability of the society." It also called "all citizens to fully cooperate with the security authorities, as it plays a fundamental role in maintaining public security, speeding up the uncovering of crimes, and ensuring everyone’s safety."
A subsequent statement from the Syrian Interior said: "Continuing the efforts of the internal security units, which culminated in the liberation of the citizens Mohammad Qaband and Hamza Lahham, the leaders of the internal security in the provinces of Damascus and Rural Damascus received the liberated citizens at the headquarters of the internal security command in Damascus province, in order to check on their health and psychological condition after securing them by the competent authorities."
For its part, "Qaband for Production and Distribution," in its account on Instagram, commented on the liberation process of its Chairman saying: "Thank God for safety.. After a period of anticipation, the Syrian Interior Ministry officially announces the discovery of the citizen and businessman Mohammad Qaband who was among the missing in Rural Damascus."
