Why Did Koulibaly Refuse to Lift the Africa Cup Trophy

Khaberni  - Senegal star Kalidou Koulibaly showed his class by refusing to lift the African Nations Cup, dedicating it to Sadio Mane, prompting fans on social media to engage with the gesture.

In an exciting final on Sunday evening, Senegal triumphed over Morocco with a single goal scored by Pape Gueye in extra time.

Koulibaly, the 34-year-old captain of the Teranga Lions, did not participate in the final due to an injury he sustained in the semifinals against Egypt, but this did not prevent the Saudi Al-Hilal defender from joining his teammates in the celebrations.

Koulibaly was dressed in full official attire, with the Senegalese flag tied around his waist. However, when he received the trophy, he quickly passed it to Mane to lift high.

This gesture was in recognition of Mane's crucial role in calming his teammates and getting them to resume the final after the penalty chaos that Morocco was awarded and Diaz missed.

Koulibaly's action received widespread acclaim from fans who described the moment as the epitome of class and respect for the legacy of the Senegalese legend.

One follower wrote, "Allowing Sadio Mane to enjoy his deserved moment, truly classy." Another posted, "Koulibaly realized this and allowed him to lift the cup."
