Khaberni - It seems that the events of the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations final between Senegal and Morocco will not go unnoticed.
Morocco lost the Africa Cup of Nations final in a thrilling scenario with a 0-1 score against Senegal after going to extra time, crowning the "Lions of Teranga" as champions.
Brahim Diaz missed a penalty in the last second of the regular time, specifically in the 24th minute of stoppage time.
The awarding of the penalty led to Senegal’s players walking off the pitch, especially since it came minutes after a goal was disallowed for them in the third minute of stoppage time.
Expected sanctions after the Africa Cup of Nations final
According to the Egyptian site "FilGoal", the African Football Confederation "CAF" has started investigating the final events, and it is about to announce a series of sanctions against all parties.
It revealed that CAF is about to impose a hefty financial penalty on Senegal due to the walk-off incident before their return, in addition to banning the Africa Cup of Nations champions from playing with an audience for several matches.
It also indicated that CAF will also impose a suspension on Pape Niaw, the coach of Senegal, for 4 to 8 matches.
A further penalty will also be imposed on the Moroccan Football Federation due to the rioting of Moroccan journalists, and preventing the Senegal coach from attending the post-match press conference.
