Khaberni - Deputies Hassan Al-Riyati and Lubna Al-Namour sent an official letter to the Minister of Education, Higher Education and Scientific Research, requesting a delay in the school day for students in government schools on Sunday, February 1, 2026, similar to what has been adopted in private schools, in order to unify the academic calendar across different educational sectors.
The letter explained that the request was made in consideration of the prevailing weather conditions during this period, which cause difficulties in student transportation, especially in villages and remote areas, where the weather conditions pose a real challenge to student safety and regular school attendance.
They emphasized that standardizing the decision between government and private schools would achieve educational equity, reduce burdens on students and their parents, and ensure everyone's safety, while also appreciating the ongoing efforts of the Ministry of Education in serving the educational process.
