Iran announces 3700 police injured in protests

Khaberni  - Ibrahim Azizi, head of the National Security and Foreign Policy Committee in the Iranian parliament, reported that more than 3700 police officers were injured in the clashes during the protests that swept the country, while Reza Pahlavi, the son of Iran's Shah, vowed to return to the country.

This was stated at a press conference held by Azizi, on Monday, according to the Iranian Mehr news agency.

Azizi added, "The number of injuries in the recent events is unfortunately high. More than 3700 police officers were injured. However, the exact number is not clear."

He noted that more than 2200 security forces' vehicles were damaged, along with more than 250 schools and 300 mosques, though he did not provide information about the number of security personnel and civilians who died in these events.

On January 11, the Iranian Tasnim News Agency announced that the number of security forces killed in the protests reached 111.

Meanwhile, on Monday, the Human Rights Activists News Agency (HRANA), based in the United States, announced that the death toll in the protests had risen to 3919 people.

It also noted that 24,669 others have been arrested during the protests across the country.

Iranian authorities have not issued any statement regarding the total number of deaths or injuries in the events that occurred during the protests.
