Meteorology The rainy season has exceeded its rates in most areas of Jordan

Khaberni  - The Director of Meteorology, Raed Rafe’ Al-Khatab, said that the current rainy season 2025/2026 is considered good so far, as it has achieved about 70% of the general rainy average across the kingdom by the end of the third quarter of the forty-day winter period.
Al-Khatab explained that the western and central regions recorded high percentages ranging between 70% and 100% of their annual averages, noting that parts of the central eastern regions and the southern Jordan Valley have exceeded their general seasonal averages.
He added that the northern regions achieved rainfall percentages ranging between 55% and 66%, while the central and eastern Badia regions recorded percentages ranging from 51% to 70%. He also pointed out that the southern Badia recorded good rates ranging between 61% and 80% of their annual average.
Al-Khatab indicated that the southwestern regions showed variability in rainfall amounts, with rates ranging from 47% to 97%, pointing out that limited parts of these regions are still below their hypothetical averages for this time of the year.
The Director of Meteorology confirmed that the current rainy season is considered higher than its general hypothetical average to date in most areas of the kingdom, which positively reflects on the water storage and the agricultural sector.
He explained that the attached map shows the percentages of the achieved rainy average for the current season in various regions of the kingdom, until the morning of Monday, 19/01/2026, affirming the continued monitoring of the rainy condition and issuing regular updates with full transparency and accuracy.
