Germany Deportation of a Syrian rapper to his home country

Khaberni - The German newspaper "Bild" reported the deportation of the Syrian rapper Mazen A., 32 years old, from Burg Penitentiary in Magdeburg to Syria, without any prospect for his near return.

The newspaper said in a report that the rapper, in videos he posted online, performed rap songs under the name Maze618, glorifying violence and drugs and mocking the police. In his real life, he extended this behavior to directly threatening security forces in the streets.

It stated that if it weren't for the deportation decision, he would have likely been released on April 20, but on January 6, 2026, he was directly transferred from the penal institution to the airport. He was accompanied by elements of the federal police during the deportation process, first to Turkey, and then he continued his journey on a civilian plane to the Syrian capital, Damascus.

The case dates back to 2017, when the police in southern Saxony were unable to contain the influence of the rapper's clan. Over several months, problems with the family, who own several cafes in the city of Naumburg, escalated until tensions peaked in May of that year.

The background of the conflict with the police goes back to Mazen's younger brother, Ahmad A. (29 years old), who was scheduled to have his driving license revoked in April 2017. When police officers went to the "Pabilon Lounge" in Naumburg to execute an arrest warrant against him, they were mocked and ridiculed by the brothers and their companions, who chanted: "We do not recognize your legal system, and your penalties in Germany are laughable."

The situation escalated when Mazen directly threatened saying: "Enough guys, bring the weapons, we will finish them off," prompting two police officers to flee. Later, the police clarified in a statement that the withdrawal of the patrol members was to "prevent further escalation."

The matter did not stop there, as the rapper, along with his friends and family members from the bar, headed to the police station. According to the indictment, they smashed an iron security door equipped with bars, and Mazen threatened a police officer.

In November 2019, Mazen A. was sentenced to a total of six years and four months in prison on charges of drug trafficking, in addition to another ten months for physical assault.

During the sentencing in the Halle State Court, the rapper attempted to leave the courtroom despite wearing an electronic monitoring bracelet and shouted objections, which forced the security officers to prevent him from exiting until the judge could finish reading the reasons for the verdict.

Today, the file ended with his deportation out of the country. Mazen A.'s lawyer assured "Bild" that he will study the conditions and legality of the deportation after reviewing the case file. However, a rapid return to Germany seems unlikely, as the Saxony Ministry of the Interior confirmed that an entry and residence ban has been imposed against him according to Article 11 of the Residence Act.

According to the newspaper's information, the deported rapper will not be allowed to enter Germany for at least five years.
