Khaberni - The number of Syrians who have voluntarily returned to their homeland since the fall of the previous Syrian regime until January 17, 2026, is about 182,700 people, according to what was announced by the media spokesperson for the Ministry of Interior, Abdul Karim Abu Dalu.
Abu Dalu explained that the return of the refugees was done through official channels and in full coordination with the relevant authorities, ensuring their safety and facilitating the logistical procedures, indicating that this return was a result of a relative improvement in the conditions in some Syrian areas.
He mentioned that thousands of Syrian refugees still reside in the kingdom's camps; as of the beginning of January 2026, the Zaatari camp accommodates about 51,000 people, while the Azraq camp houses about 34,150 Syrian refugees.
Abu Dalu clarified that the number of Syrian births in the kingdom since the beginning of the crisis until the start of this year reached about 265,800 births, according to statistics from the Civil Status and Passports Department, confirming that this data is fundamental for planning support programs and services provided to refugees.
He emphasized that the Ministry of Interior, in cooperation with government agencies and international organizations, continues to work on managing the asylum and voluntary return files in a way that considers human and social aspects and achieves sustainability in meeting the needs of refugees within the kingdom.
