Jordan More than 182000 Syrians voluntarily return to their country since the fall of Assad

Khaberni - The spokesperson for the Jordanian Ministry of Interior, Dr. Abdul Karim Abu Dalu, revealed that the total number of Syrians who left Jordan on the voluntary return path to Syria since the fall of the previous regime until January 17, 2026, reached about 182,700 Syrians.

This development comes amidst the beginning of the recovery of life in Syria, after the Syrian army secured control over strategic areas such as the Tabqa airport and the Euphrates Dam, which encouraged thousands to make the decision to return.

Dr. Abu Dalu explained that the numerical map of Syrians living in Jordanian camps is undergoing continuous changes according to the movement of entries and exits.

He noted that the number of Syrians in the Zaatari camp is currently estimated at about 51,000, while the number in the Azraq camp is approximately 34,150 Syrians.

Birth statistics and official coordination efforts for asylum
In a related context concerning vital documentation, the spokesperson revealed that the number of Syrian births registered with the Jordanian Civil Status and Passports Department since the beginning of the crisis amounted to about 265,800 births.

He confirmed that the Ministry of Interior is closely monitoring the Syrian asylum file, in permanent coordination with the relevant official entities to ensure the institutionalization of all legal procedures.

The announced figures of voluntary return represent a strong indicator of the end of the political deadlock in Syria.

With the Syrian army continuing to secure return points and enforce security against terrorist militias, the numbers of returnees are expected to double during this year.
