Khaberni - Jerash Governor Dr. Malik Khreisat said that the governorate has begun implementing measures to reduce the risks of agricultural ponds, indicating that about 200 agricultural ponds have been identified within the governorate's boundaries, and their owners will be called to a meeting to inform them of their responsibilities and to emphasize the need for compliance with public safety measures.
Khreisat affirmed that pond owners will be strictly required to take all necessary safety and prevention measures, including securing the ponds by installing warning fences and guidance signs.
He added that the Public Safety Department in the governorate, in coordination with the Jerash Directorate of Agriculture and the Jerash Water Management Directorate, conducted field visits to all agricultural ponds to verify their compliance with safety standards and procedures, and to take legal actions against violators without leniency.
He emphasized that the safety of citizens is a red line that cannot be crossed, confirming that any negligence or violations related to agricultural ponds will be met with strict legal measures, potentially leading to referral to the competent authorities.
