Injury of the Palestinian Ambassador in Tehran After Protesters Attacked Her Residence

Khaberni - About 200 protesters stormed the residence of the Palestinian Ambassador Salam Al-Zawawi, in the Iranian capital, Tehran, causing severe damage to the residence, while she and her companions took shelter in the basement until they were rescued by Iranian security forces according to local Iranian media.

The Palestinian Ambassador to Tehran, Al-Zawawi, was hospitalized after her residence was attacked by a group of protesters during recent disturbances in the Iranian capital.

Media reports mentioned that the incident occurred on Thursday, January 8 of the current month, coinciding with violent protests in the streets of Tehran.

The sources reported that about 200 protesters stormed the ambassador's residence, using firebombs and threatening shouts.

The sources added that the protesters managed to enter the building, resulting in the ambassador and a number of embassy staff suffering from suffocation and injuries, and the ambassador was transported to the hospital for treatment.

The report indicated that family members of the ambassador and some staff were forced to take refuge in the basement until security forces arrived, who intervened later and rescued them, and dealt with the attackers.

According to the website of Asr Iran newspaper, significant damage occurred to the building of the residence as a result of the clashes and the fire, according to reports.
