Jordan Endowments Number of those refusing to perform Hajj this year about 800 people

Khaberni - About 800 people have refrained from performing the Hajj this season, according to Mohammad Al-Twalbah, the spokesperson for the Ministry of Awqaf, Islamic Affairs, and Holy Places, an issue that prompted the ministry to call on citizens born between April 1, 1954, and December 31, 1954, to review the Directorates of Awqaf to receive their permits.

Al-Twalbah explained via "Al-Mamlaka" that the Directorates of Awqaf and Islamic Affairs and Holy Places across the kingdom started issuing Hajj permits last Sunday, and the set deadline ended yesterday.

He pointed out that the number of people who registered on the platform wishing to perform the Hajj rituals for the season of 1447 Hijri reached 28,000 people.

He added that the ministry invited today those born between April 1, 1954, and December 31, 1954, to review the Directorates of Awqaf in various regions to collect their permits and provide them with the required health certificate to complete the proceedings of receiving these permits.

Al-Twalbah mentioned that Saudi Arabia has approved new requirements for this year's Hajj season, including what is known as the "health ability condition," which requires obtaining a certified health certificate issued through comprehensive health centers, noting that lists of these centers are available on the websites of the Ministries of Health and Awqaf.

He stated that the health certificate is granted after a clinical examination and laboratory tests to ensure the pilgrim is free from diseases, including the failure of major organs such as the heart, lungs, liver, or kidneys, as well as being free from neurological and psychological diseases that impair perception or are accompanied by severe mobility disabilities, and also old age associated with dementia.

He explained that the requirements also include women who are in a dangerous pregnancy in the last two months or at any stage of a risky pregnancy, active cancer patients receiving chemotherapy, biological therapy, or radiotherapy, as well as those with active infectious diseases that impact public health, such as open tuberculosis (pulmonary tuberculosis).

The ministry had adopted the criterion of selecting pilgrims based on older age, which included those born on March 31, 1954, and before, while the lottery selected 1,300 pilgrims from those registered on the website, born in 1980 or before, from about 28,000 citizens who applied for registration.

The Minister of Awqaf, Islamic Affairs, and Holy Places, Mohammad Al-Khalaileh, has announced that Jordan's quota for the upcoming Hajj season is 8,000 pilgrims, in addition to 4,500 pilgrims from Arabs of 48.
