Syrian Energy Agreements with Jordan for Gas Supply and Electrical Cooperation

Khaberni - The Director of Government Communications in the Syrian Ministry of Energy, Ahmad Al-Sulaiman, announced on Sunday the existence of agreements with Jordan for gas supply and electrical cooperation, with studies currently being prepared to begin cooperation between Jordan and Syria in the coming few days.

Al-Sulaiman said that technical teams entered today vital economic and service installations in eastern Syria, including the Euphrates Dam, the Babiri stations, and several oil fields, noting that the fields are significantly deteriorated and require detailed technical studies for rehabilitation and development.

He explained that the Euphrates Dam is one of the largest facilities in Syria, containing systems for generating electricity and also a good water reserve, but it needs rehabilitation and technical study.

Al-Sulaiman considered the Babiri station located on the Euphrates River as one of the largest stations in the Middle East that supplies the entire city and countryside of Aleppo. The technical teams entered it and started to study its technical condition to begin rehabilitation and maintenance.

He continued that after the initial technical study of the facilities, there will be a specific timeline to rehabilitate the facilities and bring them back into service in the most appropriate manner.

Al-Sulaiman clarified that some facilities were severely damaged, some of which was done deliberately, in addition to the destruction of bridges near the Babiri station, pointing out that the "SDF" organization did this recently. However, the national technical teams will work on reconstructing the facilities and rehabilitating and maintaining them.
