Khaberni - In a decisive blow to the counterfeit food and supplement mafia, the Giza governorate seized on Sunday an illegal factory packing unknown-source dietary supplements.
The authorities raided the factory in the Talbiya area of Giza and found that it was replicating international brands by using expired and unknown-source ingredients, posing a risk to public health.
The Governor of Giza, Engineer Adel Al-Nagar, explained that the factory was shut down for operating without a license or health supervision. The governorate seized large quantities of non-compliant materials, including unknown-source milk powder, counterfeit dietary supplements, thousands of empty boxes, counterfeit labels, and expired drugs.
The authorities decided to seize the confiscated items and take legal actions.
This campaign is part of the Egyptian authorities' efforts against unlicensed dietary supplement packing centers targeting youth. The authorities previously revealed that these products contain banned hormones, expired substances, or toxic materials, leading to serious diseases.
