8 days after closure Aleppo International Airport is preparing to resume its flights on Tuesday

Khaberni  - The Syrian Civil Aviation Authority announced on Sunday that operations at Aleppo Airport in the north of the country will resume from the coming Tuesday, after it had been closed for 8 days due to attacks by "SDF" forces on neighborhoods in the city.

The Authority stated in a statement, "Air traffic at Aleppo International Airport will resume from Tuesday, after completing the necessary technical and security assessments, and in coordination with the relevant authorities, ensuring the safety of passengers and crews."

On January 10th, the Authority announced the suspension of operations at Aleppo Airport due to attacks launched by the SDF organization on neighborhoods in the city, before it was repelled from the area by the Syrian Army.

The organization withdrew from the neighborhoods of Sheikh Maqsoud and Ashrafiyah, and then the army continued its advance towards the cities of Deir Hafer and Maskanah in the countryside of Aleppo, before entering the administrative borders of Raqqa province in the northeast of the country on Saturday, and controlling strategic locations and oil fields.

SDF has reneged on its agreement in March 2025 with the Syrian government, which remains committed to the unity of the country, while also emphasizing respect for the Kurdish component within equal rights for all components of the Syrian people.

The agreement stipulates the integration of civil and military institutions in northeast of the country into state administration, reopening of crossings, the airport, oil and gas fields, affirming the unity of Syrian territory, and the withdrawal of "SDF" forces from Aleppo to east of the Euphrates.

The Syrian government has been making intensive efforts to secure the country since the overthrow on December 8, 2024, of the ousted president Bashar al-Assad, after 24 years in power.
