Director of the Civil Consumption Authority We have prevented the organizations employees from buying oil

Khaberni -   The General Director of the Civil Consumption Authority, Issam Al-Jarah said that the institution banned the sale of any oil gallon to any employee of the institution, and that he personally monitored the decision, limiting the amount sold to citizens to one gallon only without requiring the purchase of any other grocery items.

Al-Jarah confirmed in radio statements that the entire quantity that arrived at the civil institution was sold to citizens and did not reach the merchants, with the first batch amounting to 84,000 gallons.

Al-Jarah clarified that the relevant authorities have opened the door to imports from several countries, including Turkey, Spain, Italy, and Tunisia, asserting that Tunisian oil has been tested for over 20 years, though imports were previously halted after local oil became available in large quantities.

Engineer Issam indicated that the Ministry of Agriculture has specified certain standards for the imported oil packaging, and that the transportation process is carried out by sea. He added that the quantities arrived at the markets last Wednesday at 11 PM, and were distributed to all 70 markets of the institution.

He pointed out that if it turns out that the market needs larger quantities, additional amounts will be imported from Tunisia, emphasizing the high quality of Tunisian oil, and that Tunisia is the second-largest exporter of olive oil in the world, and has been tried previously. He added that its price is considered reasonable given that no customs duties are imposed on olive oil imported from Arab countries, noting that Tunisia’s annual production reaches about half a million tons of olive oil.
