Amman Arab University participates in the International Volunteer Day celebration and is honored for its community role

Khaberni - Under the patronage of Wafa Bani Mustafa, Minister of Social Development, Amman Arab University participated in the International Volunteer Day celebration, which was held at the Salt Reconstruction Foundation, organized by the General Union of Charitable Societies in Balqa Governorate, in the presence of Prof. Dr. Hussam Al Hamad, Vice President for Planning and Quality Assurance representing Prof. Dr. Mohammad Al-Widian, President of the University, and Dr. Mutie Al-Shibli, Director of the Career Linkage Unit at the university. The event included honoring Amman Arab University in appreciation of its prominent role in supporting community work and promoting the culture of volunteerism, where Dr. Al Hamad received the honorary shield on behalf of the University President.

In this regard, Wafa Bani Mustafa emphasized that volunteer work in Jordan embodies a deep-rooted national culture and an authentic approach that reflects the values of giving, belonging, and shared responsibility, pointing out that it forms a fundamental pillar in achieving comprehensive development and building a cohesive and solidary society, highlighting the ministry’s commitment to supporting institutional volunteer initiatives and enhancing partnership with universities and civil society institutions to empower youth and develop their role in serving the community.

In his turn, Dr. Al Hamad emphasized the importance of effective collaboration between universities and various official and private entities, noting that enhancing the concept of social responsibility contributes to maximizing the impact of volunteer work and reinforcing the values of belonging and good citizenship among the youth, indicating the university's commitment to integrating volunteer work within its extracurricular activities and supporting initiatives that enhance student participation in serving the local community.

Dr. Al-Shibli also explained that Amman Arab University effectively contributes to developing young people's ideas and supporting charitable associations, and promoting the spirit of good citizenship, thereby helping to build a cohesive and supportive community. This is achieved through launching and implementing various community initiatives targeting different groups and associations at the governorate level, such as training and qualification programs for youth, community awareness campaigns, environmental and health initiatives, in addition to supporting small projects and innovative initiatives that enhance community participation and develop students' skills in serving the community.

 
Professor Raad Abu Hamour, President of the General Union of Charitable Societies in Balqa Governorate, pointed out that the union was established in 1979 with the participation of (16) charitable societies, while today, the number of societies under its umbrella has risen to (131) out of (236) charitable societies in the governorate, affirming the pivotal role of the societies in supporting the community and enhancing social solidarity.
