Khaberni - The new Turkish series "ABİ" has had a strong start since its first episode aired on Tuesday evening on the channel "atv", recording high viewership ratings that attracted attention, and nearly reaching the 10-point barrier in ratings, with discussions about it achieving one of the highest viewership numbers for premiere episodes over the past eight years.
The series topped the viewership charts from its first episode, driven by the return of star "Kenan İmirzalıoğlu" to the screen after a 10-year absence, where he delivered a notable performance as "Doctor Doğan Hanji Oğlu", igniting social media with comments praising his presence and performance.
On the other hand, the series has sparked a wave of controversy due to the age difference between its leads, as "Kenan İmirzalıoğlu" is 51 years old, while "Afara Sarach Oglo" is 28 years old, meaning there is a 23-year age gap between them. This has divided the audience between those who see the duo's appearance as harmonious and those who consider the significant age gap unjustified dramatically.
Such criticism was raised even before the series was aired, particularly after it was revealed that İmirzalıoğlu plays the role of a doctor in his mid-thirties, while Afara plays a young lawyer in her mid-twenties, with a romantic storyline involved.
The controversy did not stop there, as the series name came back into the spotlight after news circulated about the salaries, where it is said that "Kenan İmirzalıoğlu" earns about 4 million and 250 thousand Turkish Liras per episode, which means a monthly income that could reach 17 million Liras, while Afara earns 2.5 million Liras per episode, which are described as "huge" numbers and sparked widespread discussion among followers.
It is noteworthy that the series "ABİ" which is broadcast weekly every Tuesday on the channel "atv", tells the story of "Doğan" who tries to escape from his family’s dark past to start a new life, before old secrets force him to face his fate anew.
Alongside Kenan İmirzalıoğlu and Afara Sarach Oğlu, the series also stars a group of celebrities, including: Asude Kalebek, Sinan Tuzcu, Derin Bolat Oğlu, Nihal Koldaş, Toprak Sağlam.
