With a frail body and tearful eyes a dog refuses food and drink in grief over its deceased owner

Khaberni - A dog named "Ah Wang" in the Baoshan district of Shanghai, China, has become a symbol of loyalty after it kept waiting for its deceased owner every day, unaware of the departure of the man he used to live with, in an incident that affected the neighbors and sparked widespread interest on the internet.

According to a report by South China Morning Post, the dog's owner, Mr. Gao, lived alone in the apartment with Ah Wang before his sudden death due to illness on December 11th. Since then, the dog has been sitting in the hallway outside the apartment, waiting for his owner's return as usual, according to hindustantimes.

The neighbors noted that Ah Wang refused food and drink all that time, even when water and food were offered to him. Some residents tried to calm him down or take him to their homes, but the dog would run away whenever someone approached him, clinging to his spot outside Gao’s apartment.

On January 6th, Ah Wang suddenly disappeared, which concerned the residents, especially with the cold rain and storms accompanied by temperatures dropping to about two degrees Celsius. Days later, one of the residents found Ah Wang hiding in a grassy area while she was feeding stray animals, where it was evident that he was shivering intensely and very sad, with tears gathering on his face. The woman reported: "His body was shaking, and his tears were streaming down his face."

The animal care manager later said that the dog seems emotionally disturbed after losing his owner, and will undergo a health checkup to confirm his condition. One of the residents offered to adopt Ah Wang and provide a warm home for him, stating: "I live near his apartment and used to play with him before, and if allowed, I would like to adopt him."

Many have compared this incident to the famous film Hachi: A Dog’s Tale, which was inspired by a true story that occurred in Japan in the 1920s, where a dog named Hachi waited for his owner every day at the train station for ten years after his death.
