The Syrian government accused the SDF organization and groups affiliated with the PKK organization of executing prisoners and detainees in the city of Tabqa in the countryside of Raqqa governorate, before their withdrawal.
The government condemned this act in the strongest terms, considering that the execution of prisoners and detainees, especially civilians among them, constitutes a fully fledged crime under the Geneva Conventions, and is blatantly inconsistent with international humanitarian law.
The Syrian government said: “This criminal behavior reflects the militia nature of the SDF and its methods of taking civilians and prisoners as hostages. The Syrian government holds this organization fully responsible and pledges to the families of the martyrs for fair legal accountability, and calls on the international community to condemn this crime”.
The Operations Authority in the Syrian Arab Army announced the army's control over the strategic city of Tabqa, after expelling the PKK terrorist militias from it.
Local sources mentioned that the SDF organization and groups affiliated with the PKK terrorist organization executed a number of prisoners in the city of Tabqa before withdrawing from it.
