Khaberni - Abdel Fattah Al-Burhan, Chairman of the Sudanese Transitional Sovereignty Council, issued a decision today, Saturday, to re-form the Supreme Council for Strategic Cooperation and Coordination between the Republic of Sudan and the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.
The decision is based on the agreement reached during Al-Burhan's meeting with the Saudi Crown Prince and Prime Minister, Prince Mohammed bin Salman, as part of the efforts of the two countries to enhance bilateral relations and elevate them to a comprehensive strategic partnership in various fields.
Al-Burhan had visited the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia in December 2025, during which he met with the Saudi Crown Prince to discuss the latest developments in Sudan and their repercussions, and the efforts being made to achieve security and stability.
In a related context, Al-Burhan received a joint initiative from the American and Saudi administrations aimed at ending the ongoing war between the Sudanese army and the Rapid Support Forces. According to Sudanese sources, the Saudi-American proposal begins with a temporary humanitarian truce, followed by a cessation of hostilities, leading to a final ceasefire agreement.
The sources explained that Al-Burhan discussed the details of the initiative with his partners in joint and separate meetings.
