French Parliamentarian Reveals Website Dedicated to Monitoring Muslims

Khaberni  - Sabrina Subayhi, a member of the National Assembly in France (Parliament), revealed a website that tracks Muslims in the country, monitoring their gatherings and residences.

Sabrina, the Green Party representative, told Al Jazeera Mubasher that the website provides information on the locations of Muslims in France and categorizes them by names and percentages in different neighborhoods, adding that it poses a direct threat to the safety of Muslims and increases fears of attacks, especially with the rising assaults on mosques and incidents of attacks on women wearing hijabs in public places.

She explained that she came across a tweet that said, "If we want to search for a mosque or districts with a high percentage of people with Arabic or Muslim names, there is a website that provides this information," noting that it is named "Where is France Heading?"

The French parliamentarian stated that she visited the website and found interactive maps displaying all this data, warning that such activities threaten the safety of Muslims and could lead to them being targeted.

She continued that the situation of Muslims in France has become dangerous, indicating that many of them hide their identities for fear of discrimination or assault.

Subayhi also said that she has filed an official report with the Minister of the Interior to refer the case to the Public Prosecutor, requesting an official investigation to shut down the site.

She added that an anti-racism organization has also joined the case, filing a legal complaint to support the judicial procedures.

The French deputy said, "A Muslim is nobody's enemy; he just wants to live in peace in France," emphasizing the need for everyone to "stand against attempts to stigmatize the community and consider it a scapegoat, and to protect the rights of all citizens against any hate speech or violence."
