Khaberni - The Syrian army announced today, Saturday, that it has taken control of two oil fields in the Raqqa governorate in the northeastern part of the country.
The Operations Authority in the Syrian Arab Army stated in a press release that it has taken control of the Sufyan and Thawra oil fields and the Rassafa junction, near the city of Tabqa.
It reported that "its forces are advancing towards the Tabqa military airport from several axes to gain control, and to expel the 'PKK' terrorist militias and remnants of the defunct regime."
The Authority called on civilians to "stay away from a site in Tabqa used by 'PKK' terrorist militias and remnants of the defunct regime, allies of the SDF organization, as a launchpad for their terrorist operations against the Syrians and their army."
The Authority also demanded all elements of the SDF organization to withdraw and stay away, as events are escalating, saying: "Do not make yourselves fuel for projects that do not concern you, for the land belongs to its people, and the future to those who make wise choices."
A Syrian security source and another Turkish defense source reported that coalition aircraft, led by the United States, flew over towns experiencing tensions in northern Syria, where clashes occurred between the Syrian army forces and Kurdish factions, today, Saturday.
The Syrian security source said that the aircraft launched warning flares over the area.
The Syrian army declared the area west of the Euphrates as a closed military zone, after the 'PKK' militias targeted army forces while they were implementing the agreement stipulating the withdrawal of its elements from the contact areas east of Aleppo."
The Authority noted that the army entered Raqqa governorate, took control of the town of Dibsi Afnan west of the governorate, and is advancing towards Tabqa.
