British Airways temporarily suspends flights to Bahrain

Khaberni  - British Airways announced on Friday the temporary suspension of its flights to Bahrain as a precautionary measure.

Flight tracking sites showed that European airlines, such as "Wizz Air" and "Lufthansa," and British Airways avoided Iraqi and Iranian airspace on Thursday and chose alternative routes over Afghanistan and Central Asia to reduce risks associated with ongoing geopolitical unrest in Iran and the Middle East, according to Reuters.

Iran closed its airspace and then reopened it after nearly 5 hours late Wednesday amidst concerns of potential US military action against Iran, forcing airlines to reroute, cancel, or delay their flights.

Despite the reopening of the airspace, the "Flight Radar 24" site revealed that a number of airlines, including Singapore Airlines and "TUI," continued to use alternative routes.
