A tragedy shakes hearts Details of an Egyptian doctor losing her 5 children in one night

Khaberni - A state of severe sadness prevailed within the medical and academic circles in Qalyubia Governorate in Egypt, after receiving the news of the death of the five children of Dr. Ibtisam Nasr, a professor of general surgery at Banha University Faculty of Medicine, due to a tragic accident inside their home in the village of Meet Aasim, belonging to the center of Banha, as a result of suffocation caused by a dense gas leak.

A gas leak ends the lives of the five siblings
The tragic incident began when one of the girls started showering in the bathroom using a gas heater, while her four siblings were in a deep sleep in their rooms.

Preliminary investigations clarified that a sudden explosion occurred in the heater, which caused the girl's immediate death, followed by a widespread distribution of carbon monoxide throughout the dwelling, leading to the suffocation of the other siblings and their deaths without being aware of the danger due to their deep sleep.

The security inspection revealed the identity of the victims who are: "Ibrahim" aged 15, and his sisters "Khadija" 14 years old, "Ruqayya" 13 years old, "Maryam" 12 years old, in addition to the youngest "Jannah" aged 8 years, as the children were living alone, given that their parents had been working abroad for a long time.

Official investigations into the accident
Immediately after receiving the report, the security forces at Qalyubia Security Directorate moved to the accident site, where a security cordon was imposed around the house and the bodies were transported to the hospital.

The public prosecution began investigations into the incident, and decided to delegate the forensic medicine to determine the precise technical causes of death and to verify the absence of any other suspicions, with an inspection of the site to ascertain the causes of technical malfunction in the heater.

University and academic interaction with the incident
The administration of Benha University Hospitals issued an official statement mourning the children of Dr. Ibtisam Nasr, and Dr. Mohamed Al-Ashhab, the dean of the Faculty of Medicine, and Dr. Amr Al-Dakhakhni, the executive director of the hospitals, extended their deepest condolences to the family.

Dr. Jamal Shaban, a professor of heart disease, also made sure to offer condolences to the doctor who works in the United States, describing her as the "Khansa of Egypt" due to the significant loss she experienced by losing her five children at once.

Many doctors, colleagues, and medical sector workers engaged with the tragedy that befell the Egyptian doctor, leaving poignant condolence messages across social media, expressing their solidarity with her.
