Khaberni - Doctors at the Sverdlovsk Russian Cancer Center successfully performed a complex surgical operation to remove a giant tumor weighing more than 60 kilograms from the abdomen of a 50-year-old man.
The press office of the Russian Ministry of Health stated in a release on the subject: "Doctors at the Sverdlovsk Regional Cancer Center successfully removed a massive tumor weighing over 60 kilograms from the abdomen of a 50-year-old patient. The man's abdomen had been growing for about 20 years without raising any suspicions of a life-threatening condition."
Due to its large size, the tumor was pressing on the inferior vena cava in the man's body, displacing the intestines and bladder and completely occupying almost the entire abdominal cavity.
The tumor removal operation took about eight hours, and the doctors noted that they had not encountered a similar case in 30 years of medical practice. It is worth mentioning that the tumor was of the liposarcoma type, which are malignant tumors that initially grow slowly without causing symptoms, but become troublesome and dangerous when they reach a significant size.
In his comment, the patient said: "My abdomen began to swell when I was thirty-three years old. Until the age of fifty, I felt no discomfort, and I could move easily and was physically strong, and it did not affect my work. But after fifty, the situation became difficult, so I turned to doctors, and this large tumor was discovered."
