Mohamed Abdel Wahab, brother of the artist Sherine Abdel Wahab, caused widespread controversy on social media after his sharp attack on the media personality Basma Wahba, accusing her of hosting his sister's ex-husband with the intention of harming her, amid escalating discussion about the Egyptian singer's health and psychological state.
Mohamed Abdel Wahab wrote on his Facebook account: "Ms. Basma Wahba.. I wish you wouldn't act like you care about her that much, you specifically brought her ex during Ramadan to tear her apart, and when the program was stopped, you were going live on Instagram and calling him and still tearing her apart."
Sherine’s brother added that what happened contradicts media professionalism, especially after Sherine’s ex-husband's statements during the show, where he said: "Isn't it a shame for a veteran and experienced media personality like you, when someone tells you that I raised Sherine’s price outside Egypt, and you overlook it?" pointing out that Sherine has a significant artistic history, and stood on the most important Arab and international stages before her ex knew her.
For her part, Basma Wahba expressed her concern for Sherine Abdel Wahab on air during her show "90 Minutes" on Al Mehwar channel, confirming that the artist needs her family's support more than anything else, and that her daughters' distance from her and increasing feeling of loneliness negatively affected her health and psychological stability.
Basma Wahba also urged the public not to share photos of Sherine in her difficult health condition, or to focus on her appearance or weight, emphasizing the necessity of considering the human aspect before anything, expressing her deep love for the artist and her concern for her safety.
