Khaberni - American President Donald Trump said that his decision not to strike Iran was based on personal conviction, emphasizing that he was not subject to any pressure or persuasion from other leaders, but rather took his position after developments described as important within Iran.
He added, "No one convinced me, I convinced myself. Yesterday, there were more than 800 scheduled executions, but these people were not executed; the executions were cancelled."
In statements made at the White House, Trump expressed his respect for what he described as the Iranian authorities' decision to cancel the executions, noting that this development came at a critical time. When asked whether he encourages the protesters in Iran to continue, he said, "We'll see, we'll see," adding that cancelling more than 800 death sentences is a commendable step.
In a related context, Trump mentioned that his country has previously carried out operations targeting Iran's nuclear capabilities, during his discussion on American investments in security and defense, asserting that the United States has the strongest military in the world, and that it has become stronger than it was before.
In international affairs, Trump touched on the Greenland issue, confirming that the United States is discussing this file with the North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO). He said that his country needs Greenland for national security, warning that failing to acquire it would create a significant security gap, especially with what he described as major defense projects, including the Golden Dome. He added, "We are talking with NATO, yes."
Trump also addressed his meeting with a prominent Venezuelan opposition figure, warning against repeating what he described as past mistakes that occurred in Iraq when all security and administrative leaderships were excluded, which later led to the emergence of "ISIS". He said he had a meeting he described as "wonderful" with a figure he respects greatly, affirming that this figure respects the United States.
In another context, Trump spoke about his meeting with Marina Machado, a Nobel Prize winner, noting that she offered him the prize she had previously received. He said, "She told me that I ended eight wars, and no one deserves this prize more than me," considering it "a nice gesture," and adding that he plans to speak with her again.
Domestically, Trump commented on the possibility of using the "Insurrection Act" in Minnesota, explaining that several former presidents have used this law, indicating that former President George Bush Sr. resorted to it several times. He affirmed that he currently sees no reason to use it, but emphasized at the same time that he would use it if necessary, describing it as a very strong law.
